The Sparrow Coin

When it comes to practice…

We recognize that stepping into music lessons is more than a mere 30 minutes and an occasional recital. We want your student to feel the delight that comes when moments spent honing in on their craft turn to marked improvement. Practice is not the burdensome byproduct of music lessons, but rather the very space that gives their love for music a chance to flourish. We recognize that this takes intentionality, not just by the student but by the parent. As you engage in your child’s pursuit of music, we want to encourage you to prompt their discipline so that the most can be made out of this investment of both time and resource.

Granted sometimes we just need a little incentivizing. The verbal praise of a teacher is by no means unseen by us. You can trust that we will be quick to affirm effort and improvement, knowing that it carries the weight of several gold stars. Still, we want to reward such effort in a tangible way as well.

Introducing the Sparrow Coin.

One Sparrow Coin is rewarded for every 10 practice points earned. A practice point is earned each week a student practices 3 or more days (aside from lesson day). Weekly practice goals may be catered more specifically to each student by his/her instructor, but three days in the week is the minimum for earning a practice point. So as to encourage parent involvement, you (the parent) will simply need to sign off on your child’s weekly practice by filling out the WEEKLY PRACTICE PARENT SIGN OFF SHEET. We suggest you do this during your child’s lesson time so that it’s not forgotten, as you can only redeem one point per week.

But wait. There’s more.

There are two other ways your child can earn a Sparrow Coin.

  1. On their birthday. Seriously that’s it. Happy Birthday!
  2. For every student you refer that schedules a trial lesson, your child receives a Sparrow Coin. Here’s the best part. If that student goes on to enroll in weekly lessons, then after three months time, you receive a free lesson. FREE LESSON. (Just want to make sure you saw that part.)

The best part.

Naturally you would like to know what these coins can be redeemed for. Our “prize box” as it were, will be ever shifting. Once a student has a Sparrow Coin in his/her possession, they are welcome to either trade it in, or stack for the next tier of available prizes. Some items are consistent, such as a $5 gift card to Mod Stitch Co. for 1 Sparrow Coin, or a popcorn bucket with NCG Cinemas tickets for 2 Sparrow Coins. But there are a few items that will be available for only a limited time. For instance, at the moment we have Pokémon Trading Cards for 1 Sparrow Coin or a 40oz. Stanley Tumbler for 4 Sparrow Coins. Once a Sparrow Coin is earned, the choice to keep or redeem is yours.

Here’s to the notion that a little love can go a long way.
